For almost thirty years First Baptist Church has responded to the call of God to minister to the poor living along the Texas/Mexico border. This church has sent medical, dental, and construction personnel to this region to, not only help alleviate some of their suffering, but to share with them the hope found in the saving grace of Christ. There are usually two of these trips made per year to the border where churches are built and the family of faith is strengthened.
Wherever First Baptist Church has been able they have responded to those in crisis, whether it is a local family who lost it all in a house fire or providing relief in the hurricane ravaged Gulf coast. Numerous trips have been made to South Mississippi following Hurricane Katrina and several were made to the Texas gulf coast following the destruction of hurricane Ike.
