Membership Matters.

The church is essential to God because He has chosen to accomplish His mission through the church. The church is God’s plan. It is important to understand that membership matters. It is essential for us to remember that church is not a place to enter, but a called-out people group. To be a member means that you identify with the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.

It means that you want to be active in your pursuit to be ALL IN.

  • ALL IN on your worship.
  • ALL IN on your spiritual growth.
  • ALL IN on your desire to minister.
  • ALL IN on your calling to serve on mission.

Membership is a visible reminder of your commitment to Jesus, but also your commitment to others. Joining the Church will bring scripture to life. The Bible is full of verses that require members to do unto “one another.” Membership says, How can I love and serve you? How can I be an encouragement? How can I come alongside side you and pray? The privilege is being able to partner and walk alongside one another and build a strong caring spiritual family.

Here is how you can act!

New Members and Prospective Members Luncheon is open to anyone who has joined during the past year or for those interested in learning more about how we function as a church. Have you made FBC Graham your church home or are you interested in making FBC Graham your church home. Come and discover more by hearing from the staff, touring the facilities, and discover how you can serve here at FBC Graham.

It was reported that 1.8 billion people watch the World Cup final between Spain and Argentina. If you Google, "What is the approximate population of the world?" the answer is 8.3 billion, and the math will say that 1.8 billion is 21.69% of the world's population. Which means over 21% of the world watch a soccer match where the score was 1 to 0 and wasn't scored until the 106th minute of the game. Unless you are from Spain or Argentina, you probably didn't care which team won or lost. Every four years, the World Cup is played and how many previous champions can you name, along with the years they won? I couldn't name a single winner and the year that team won. Why am I mentioning the World Cup? Because, as exciting as the game may have been, its outcome held no eternal significance for most of those watching. According to SBC statistics: 4.5 million people attend an SBC church. Of that 4.5 million, only 2.6 million participate in small group study (Sunday School). The 4.5 million in weekly attendance represents around 1.29% of the U.S. population. A soccer game can gather 21% of the world that will watch an event for several hours, yet only about 1.29% of Americans gathers each Sunday to worship the King of Kings. One event no eternal consequence… the other eternal consequences. Over the past 19 years, the membership of the SBC has declined. Churches have close their doors, and membership rolls remain full of people who never show up. There are several factors that have help contribute to this decline, but one the greatest may be our failure to faithfully share the gospel. The ALL IN Challenge has not stopped. One part of the challenge is for each of us to have one gospel conversation every week. Lifeway Research has reported: 27% church members rarely pray for evangelistic opportunities to share the gospel. 13% church members are not eager to talk about Jesus with others. 8% church members say they engage in conversation more than 11 times a year. 26% SBC churches recorded 0 baptisms in 2023. These statistics reveal both a problem and the answer. Why are so many churches ineffective in evangelism? It is not because we lack the necessary tools, opportunities, or ability. We are surrounded every day by people who need Jesus. The answer to our evangelism problem is not another program alone. The church must renew its commitment to personally and faithfully share the gospel. Maybe you struggle with the thought of evangelism. Perhaps you feel nervous. Perhaps you feel unprepared. Perhaps you are uncertain about what to say. Or maybe you simply need to refresh your approach to sharing the gospel. Evangelism Training 📅 August 1st 🕙 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. 📍 Fellowship Hall On August 1st, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall, Oza Jones Jr., Director of Evangelism for Texas Baptists, will be here to provide practical evangelism training. We live in a world shaped by pluralism, universalism, and secularism—a culture that increasingly believes Christianity should remain private and silent. However, Jesus has not called His church to remain private or silent about the gospel. He has commanded us to go and make disciples. Evangelism does not have to be as difficult as we sometimes make it. We do not have to possess every answer or deliver a perfect presentation. We simply must be willing, prepared, and obedient—trusting the Holy Spirit to work as we faithfully share the good news of Jesus Christ. Join us on August 1st from 10:00am - 12:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall as we learn how to faithfully and confidently share the gospel.

All In Challenge: Praying for our Nation
One of the benefits of the All In Challenge is that for seven days, not only have we been praying, but we have been praying together. As we move toward the end of summer and into fall, we are moving forward together in prayer. WE HAVE BEEN PRAYING FOR... Our Nation, Graham, first responders, compassion, mercy, church’s ministries, spiritual awakening in our hearts, the families of FBC, and the preaching of the Gospel. We have been engaging in daily prayer for the past several months. It is my prayer that, over these past several months, your prayer life has been flourishing and that you have been experiencing a deep connection with God. One way to prepare yourself for prayer is through confession of sin, knowing that there is forgiveness of sins. We confess our sins and receive forgiveness because Christ atoned for our sins. Confession helps the believer to walk in a way that says, “I am all in for Christ.” Galatians 5:16 “I say, then, walk by the Spirit and you will certainly not carry out the desire of the flesh.” Today, Ask the Lord for forgiveness of sin. Ask the Lord to fill you with the Holy Spirit. Ask the Lord for power to walk in the Spirit and not in the flesh. PRAYING FOR A SPIRITUAL AWAKENING This week is a special week in the life of our country. We are not only celebrating our freedom, but also celebrating 250 years of being a nation under God. Our prayer for America is spiritual revival. Like most of you, I love 2 Chronicles 7:14. “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” We understand this verse was an Old Testament promise to Israel, but this verse still speaks today to the New Testament church. As God’s people, we know that all Scripture is God-breathed and used for teaching. Every Christian can learn from this passage. As God’s people, we are to humble ourselves, pray, seek God’s face, and turn from evil. Sounds easy. Notice the call on the people of God is no different than the call on the church. Today, the church is called to live with humility, to have a hunger for God (prayer and worship), and to live out holiness. As Christians, we are to walk humbly before our God. Every Christian should have an understanding that we contribute nothing toward grace. Therefore, He alone deserves all the glory and honor for our salvation in Christ. What America needs today is grace. As Christians, we are to have a hunger for God. In our All In Challenge, you have been challenged to pray seven days a week. What is truly incredible is not that we are praying, but that God hears our prayers. He hears our prayers for revival and our desire to see God do something that only He can do. He hears our prayers of repentance and confession. God will not bless America unless we turn from our wicked ways. We hunger for God through worship. Worship is not something we simply check off our to-do list. Worship is entering the presence of God and experiencing His presence. It is expressing love to God for who He is and for what He has done. Worship is an encounter with God. Lastly, we are called to live out holiness. Repentance leads to a heart change. A heart change leads to life change. Holiness comes by repentance. Repentance is turning away from sin and turning toward God. Although 2 Chronicles was not written to America, that does not mean that America cannot profit from Christians showing humility, seeking God, and pursuing holiness. As you pray this week in light of 2 Chronicles 7:14, pray: God, we humble ourselves before You. We confess our sinful ways before You. We pray for the power to turn toward You and You alone. We pray that we would seek Your face today. This week, pray: God, be gracious and merciful to America. God, awaken your church to experience the next Great Awakening. God, hear our prayers, forgive our sins, and heal our land. This Sunday, July 5, we will not have Sunday School. Instead, we will all be in the gym celebrating with a church-wide breakfast during the Sunday School hour. Bring something to share, and let’s have a great time of fellowship and food. We will still have worship at the regular time, 11 AM. See you Sunday!
